Specialist Chief Technician (Clinical Trials)
We are looking for a skilled and highly motivated and experienced technician with an excellent knowledge of human immunology and extensive experience of complying with the Medicines for Human Use (Clinical Trials) Regulations (2004) and subsequent amendments, under Good Clinical Practice (GCP) guidelines. As part of the Department of Immunobiology, the appointee will join a team of scientists analysing immune responses in a range of human autoimmune and inflammatory diseases with specific interest in type-1 diabetes.
The main purpose of this post is to provide specialist technical expertise in the organisation and conduct of immunological assays in the clinical trial setting. Experience of relevant laboratory techniques including in vitro assays to assess immune function and high parameter flow cytometry is essential. The post requires flexibility in working hours including some weekend work.
In addition to conducting experimental work, the post holder will:
- be responsible for the training and day-to-day management of a team of junior scientists.
- provide technical advice and training to a wider group of researchers investigating immune responses in a range of autoimmune and inflammatory diseases.
- help draft documentation for clinical trial protocols and be responsible for reporting and storing trail results.
- be expected to keep abreast of technical advances in the field and develop new approaches to deliver the project’s aims.
The post holder will also involve liaising with a variety of administrators, scientists and healthcare professionals from within King’s, King’s Health Partners and with external academic, NHS and industrial partners to deliver collaborative and contract-based projects. The ideal candidate will have experience of working both in the academic and industrial biomedical sectors, be comfortable liaising with with large teams and have good knowledge of Good Clinical Laboratory Practice (GCLP) and Human Tissue Act (HTA) regulations.
