The London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) is a leading institution for global health research, education and policy and is embarking on the search for its next Director to lead the organisation from August 2021.

Working to improve health worldwide for more than 120 years, LSHTM consistently ranks as one of the top institutions for research impact, international collaboration and research equity. Impact through excellence in research and education lies at the heart of LSHTM’s mission and strategy.

At the heart of this global organisation is the Director, providing inspirational leadership to 3,000 members of staff conducting research in over 100 countries, and to more than 4,000 students working to become future global health researchers, managers and leaders.

The Director is the Chief Executive of the School and reports to the Chair and the Council. They are responsible for overseeing research strategy, provision of high-quality education to students, and the overall performance of LSHTM.

With international faculties, cross-institutional Centres, and collaborating partners around the globe in Africa, Asia, Latin America and Europe, the Director’s organisational leadership and responsibilities span across the whole of LSHTM and into society.

Sharing the values and culture of LSHTM will be key for the successful candidate. They will have an exceptional commitment to global health, a global awareness and sensitivity towards different work cultures, and a demonstrable track record in the practice of equality, diversity and inclusion.

LSHTM has appointed Egon Zehnder to manage this global search on its behalf. For a detailed job description and person specification, and to make an application, email lshtm@egonzehnder.com. Details of Egon Zehnder’s privacy policy can be found at https://www.egonzehnder.com/privacy-policy
