Emergency Medicine Ultrasound Scholar/Physician
The University of Chicago's Department of Medicine, Section of Emergency Medicine, seeks to appoint a full-time Emergency Medicine Ultrasound Scholar who will work closely with administrations for both our Ultrasound Program and our EM Residency program to gain experience in 1) appropriate ultrasound procedural technique, 2) ultrasound teaching methodologies and evaluation, 3) ultrasound program curriculum design and assessment, and 4) scholarship in ultrasound, approximately half-time while working clinically as an attending in our emergency department in the balance of time. We especially welcome applicants with an interest in ultrasound education, and who have an interest in becoming an academic leader in the field of EM Ultrasound. This is a one-year appointment. Compensation (including a generous package of fringe benefits) is dependent on qualifications. The University of Chicago Medicine is an Adult and Pediatric Trauma Center, a receiving hospital for STEMI, a Comprehensive Stroke Center, a Burn Center, and a Chicago South EMS regional resource hospital. The Adult ED has an annual volume of 75,000 patients per year.
Prior to the start of employment, qualified applicants must 1) have a medical doctorate or equivalent, 2) hold or be eligible for medical licensure in the State of Illinois, 3) be Board certified or eligible in Emergency Medicine, and 4) have completed an ACGME-approved residency or equivalent.
