TECHNOLOGY LICENSING ASSOCIATEOffice of Strategic Alliances and Technology Transfer (OSATT)-Technology Licensing Office (TLO), to join TLO’s life sciences team. Will provide support to technology licensing officers and assist in drafting and negotiating a variety of agreements, including confidentiality agreements, material transfer agreements, joint invention agreements, and license agreements; and establish and maintain the entries for technologies in a comprehensive intellectual property, contractual, and financial database and communicate this information to teams inside and outside of the TLO.  Will be exposed to major areas of technology licensing; work closely with leading scientists, entrepreneurs, and patent attorneys; and have an opportunity to evaluate and explore commercial opportunities for MIT technologies.

The Technology Licensing Office manages MIT’s intellectual property through filing and prosecuting a varied patent portfolio and transfers this technology across the world through licensing to companies.  It provides continuous learning opportunities with regular presentations from experts on technology development, licensing, patent prosecution, and entrepreneurship.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED B.A./B.S. degree in the life science or biomedical fields; at least one year of related experience, preferably in university or corporate technology transfer; excellent organizational, priority-setting, and verbal and written communication skills; good judgment; ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and to quickly communicate complex issues clearly and succinctly; and proficiency with Microsoft Office and database software.  Seek a detail- and deadline-oriented self-starter who enjoys working both independently and collaboratively and thrives in an environment that encourages strategic thinking.

PREFERREDan understanding of the patenting process, and experience reading technology-focused contracts. Job #18875-7

Salary range: $65 - 67,000

This is a one-year appointment.
