TECHNICAL ASSOCIATE, Picower Institute for Learning and Memory-Tsai Lab (2 openings), to assist with research on the effects of neurodegeneration on cognitive function in various mouse models. Duties include conducting behavioral experiments to assess learning and memory in mouse models and analysis of highly-automated paradigms as well as those requiring human observation. These projects will include optogenetic, pharmacological, histology, biochemical, and imaging approaches. Will work closely with postdocs and graduate students.
This position would be ideal for a highly motivated individual who is interested in working in the cutting-edge field of mouse genetics related to neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s disease. The Tsai Lab is committed to the intellectual development and career progression of all lab members. The scope, complexity, and independence of participation in research projects will be commensurate with experience. As skills are developed, the position will involve increasing participation in scientific research.
Job Requirements
REQUIRED: bachelor’s degree in psychology, neuroscience, or related field; at least two years’ experience working in a research laboratory environment; experience with behavioral testing and familiarity with the intricacies of rodent behavior, particularly in the mouse; self-motivation; high-level organizational skills; and comfort working both independently and in a team-oriented environment.
PREFERRED: experience with rodent stereotaxic surgery and brain dissection; and experience with molecular biology and biochemistry techniques, e.g., Western blotting and histology. Job #1886
