IT GENERALIST, Haystack Observatory, to provide support in a diverse environment whose mission is to carry out cutting-edge research in radio sciences. Will be responsible for diagnosing and resolving IT technical issues; providing technical support to staff and for workshops, conferences, and events; configuring and deploying new systems; assisting with developing and maintaining documentation; assisting with developing and maintaining software scripts and applications; and serving as a backup during absences and being available in the event of an emergency.
Job Requirements
REQUIRED: a high school diploma or its equivalent; at least three years’ experience providing desktop user support; knowledge of computer hardware/software/networking concepts; experience diagnosing systematic hardware issues; experience with Windows, OSX, and Linux environments; strong analytical skills; ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of users with varying levels of system knowledge; demonstrated ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and work successfully in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
PREFERRED: an understanding of Python and scripting and experience with single-board computers and embedded systems. Job #18505
