Job Description Summary

CBICA is seeking an intermediate system administrator (SAGE III) to add to our IT team supporting researchers in biomedical image analysis. You can make a direct contribution to medical and scientific research by helping maintain and improve the Center's growing HPC facility, all while working with smart people in a great environment. This position offers exposure to a wide range of technologies with the flexibility for you to develop deep expertise in areas of interest.

Job Description

CBICA is seeking an intermediate system administrator (SAGE III) to add to our IT team supporting researchers in biomedical image analysis. You can make a direct contribution to medical and scientific research by helping maintain and improve the Center's growing HPC facility, all while working with smart people in a great environment. This position offers exposure to a wide range of technologies with the flexibility for you to develop deep expertise in areas of interest.

Required Skills

  • General system administration and problem solving
  • Organization skills and judgement enabling you to work independently
  • Linux System Administration (RHEL-based)
  • Linux scripting (BASH)
  • Experience with automated provisioning/configuration management (xCAT, Puppet preferred)
  • Ability to automate solutions to repetitive problems/tasks
  • Strong troubleshooting skills leading toward root-cause analysis and practical issue resolution
  • Ability to communicate effectively with investigators and staff with a wide range of technical knowledge

Preferred Skills

  • RHSA certification
  • Perl, Python
  • HPC configuration and operation (SGE preferred)
  • HA cluster experience (RHCS preferred)
  • Experience with clustered filesystems (GPFS, Gluster, Lustre, GFS)
  • moderate Windows and Mac OS X administration
  • Unix/Windows/AD interoperability and CIFS file sharing
  • Enterprise monitoring and alerting tools (Nagios)
  • Apache web server administration    

Principal Position Responsibilities/Duties:

  • Build, install, document, and maintain Linux servers, network devices, storage arrays and other core components
  • Provide system and application support to clinical, research, and application development users
  • Configure and support Windows and Mac OS devices
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree and a minimum of two years of operating systems maintenance and analysis experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience required.
