ACT372H1S L5101 - Basic Rate Making Methods for P & C Insurance (2 Positions 0.25 FCE)

This course covers the basic ratemaking methods for P&C insurance. It assumes that students are familiar with traditional reserving diagnoses and projection methods. The syllabus would introduce concepts related to earning of exposures, on-level factors, catastrophe loading, large loss loading and credibility.

Sessional Dates

January 1, 2021 to April 30, 2021 – This course is co-taught.

Salary 

$8,489.67 for Sessional Lecturer I; $8,869.25 for Sessional Lecturer I Long Term; $9085.58 for Sessional Lecturer II; $9301.90 for Sessional Lecturer III (Rates will be pro-rated to FCE.) 

Qualifications: Minimum Master’s degree required, PhD preferred in Statistics, Applied Statistics, Actuarial Science, Biostatistics or related discipline. Prior experience teaching at the university level. Prior experience teaching ACT372 or a similar course an asset.

Description of duties: Teaching; setting and invigilating term tests and final examinations; reporting final grades; counseling students; supervising sessional instructional assistant(s).
