College/Department Profile        
The Biomedical and Pharmaceutical Research Unit (BPRU) under QU Health started operation in September 2020. QU Health includes College of Medicine, College of Pharmacy, College of Health Sciences, and the recently established College of Dental Medicine.  The BPRU brings together and unite researchers from several colleges forming multidisciplinary research teams that share resources and infrastructure. The interdisciplinary disease-approached research with a “problemand solution-based approach” adopted by BPRU aims to address Qatar’s grand health challenges with the ultimate goal to support the country’s efforts to advance health care.

Duties & Responsibilities        
Sets up lab experiments and/or participates in the fabrication and installation of equipment for specified classes or laboratory research projects within aphysical or life sciences discipline. Duties may include fabrication of research/testing components, preparing specimens, media, and equipment, making chemical solutions, and cleaning up after labs, as appropriate to the specific position. May assist faculty, researchers and students in lab activities, andmay perform miscellaneous administrative duties.

1. Prepares various test specimens and growth media for use in related labs.
2. Prepares chemical solutions for use in lab experiments.
3. Sets up equipment for use in labs; ensures proper operation of equipment, and reports operating deficiencies to supervisor.
4. Assists students in lab experimentation, as appropriate; provides guidance in learning and/or functional operation of experiments and equipment.
5. Cleans lab facilities and equipment after lab exercises are complete; stores supplies and equipment as applicable.
6. Practices safety, environmental, and/or infection control methods.

Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned

Qualifications        

• B.Sc. degree in Science (preferably biology, chemistry or health related) or Engineering.
• Knowledge and 2-3 years of experience in laboratory tests and analyses, laboratory operation and terminology, and equipment.
• Knowledge or Certifications of different laboratory methods and testing procedures applicable to the medical and health unit lab.
• 2-3 years of experience in medical, pharmaceutical and/or health care labs is highly recommended

Biosafety and/or quality assurance certificates is recommended
