Course description:  The module will introduce students to the basics of entrepreneurship (and intrapreneurship) as pathways to capture value from new discoveries. The business model canvas will be presented as a tool for the design of new opportunities. Students will workshop a new business or project idea using the canvas. Students will develop an introductory understanding of the building blocks of business model design applying it in development of a strategy for their own innovations.

Estimated course enrollment:  ~ 30 students

Estimated TA support: not applicable

Class schedule:  2-hour seminar-style workshops; occurring Tuesdays/Thursdays between 1-7pm

Sessional dates of appointment:  January 2021 to April 2021

Salary: 

Sessional Lecturer I - $4,244.83

Sessional Lecturer I – Long Term - $4,434.63

Sessional Lecturer II - $4,542.79

Sessional Lecturer III - $4,650.95 

Please note that should rates stipulated in the collective agreement vary from rates stated in this posting, the rates stated in the collective agreement shall prevail.

Minimum qualifications:  PhD with equivalent professional and/or academic experience is preferred.

Description of duties:  Preparation and delivery of course content, including lectures and/or seminars; creation of course ware; the development and administration of assignments, tests and examinations; marking and grading of student work and the submission of grades to appropriate University officials, maintenance of reasonable hours of student contact outside of schedule contact hours, supervision of day-to-day work of Teaching Assistant.
