The Buddhism, Psychology and Mental Health Program at New College seeks a sessional lecturer from January 1, 2021 – April 30, 2021 for the following course:


NEW332H1S – Evaluates the relationship between Buddhist psychology and the practice of Western psychotherapy. Areas that will be studied include positive psychology, psychoanalysis, cognitive-behaviour therapy, mindfulness meditation and Jungian psychology. Comparisons with original Buddhist teachings and commentaries will be made.

The delivery method for this course is currently remote/online.  Please note that, in keeping with current circumstances, the course delivery method may change as determined by the Faculty or College.

Enrolment Estimate:      120 students
Estimated TA Support:   200 hours
Class Schedule:             Mondays 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Salary:      $8,489.67 (Sessional Lecturer I) - $8,869.25 (Sessional Lecturer I Long Term) - $9,085.58 (Sessional Lecturer II) - $9,301.90 (Sessional Lecturer III)

Graduate degree in an area related to Buddhist Psychology.  Teaching experience required. Teaching experience at the university level preferred.  Experience teaching online to large groups an asset.


  • Planning and teaching weekly online lectures
  • Providing virtual office hours for academic counseling of students
  • Developing, marking and grading assignments
  • TA supervision
