Applications are invited for a temporary post of a UCD Post-doctoral Research Fellow Level 1, Ecological Engineering within UCD School of Architecture, Planning and Environmental Policy, Spatial Dynamics Lab
Applications are invited from enthusiastic and talented individuals for a 6-month post-doctorate research position which will contribute to the Horizon 2020 funded project Connecting Nature. The position is available from 1 November 2020 in the area of ecological engineering.
Coordinated by Trinity College Dublin, Connecting Nature is a consortium of 30 partners within 16 European countries, and hubs in Brazil, China, Korea & The Caucasus (Georgia and Armenia). We are co-working with local authorities, communities, industry partners, NGOs and academics who are investing in large scale implementation of nature-based projects in urban settings. We are measuring the impact of these initiatives on climate change adaptation, health and well-being, social cohesion and sustainable economic development in these cities. We are also developing a diversity of innovative actions to nurture the start-up and growth of commercial and social enterprises active in producing nature-based solutions and products.
This is a research focused role, where you will conduct a specified programme of research supported by research training and development under the supervision and direction of a Principal Investigator.
The primary purpose of the role is to further develop your research skills and competences, including the processes of publication in peer-reviewed academic publications, the development of funding proposals, the mentorship of graduate students along with the opportunity to develop your skills in research led teaching.

In addition to the Principal Duties and Responsibilities listed below, the successful candidate will also carry out the following duties specific to this project:
- Developing research in the area of ecological engineering.
- Supporting the activation of a community of entrepreneurs developing smart technologies for NBS
- Supporting the PI in preparing new funding proposals for national and international research calls.
- Supporting the team in activities related to sensors and data mining.
- Preparation of deliverables for H2020 projects
Salary range: €38,631 - €39,186 per annum
Appointment will be made on scale and in accordance with the Department of Finance guidelines.
