The Opportunity
Zayed University’s College of Humanities and Social Sciences (Abu Dhabi and Dubai) / Department of Language Studies seeks Ph.D. English faculty who demonstrate a strong commitment to undergraduate education through high quality teaching and research. Faculty contribute to the preparation of graduates who will become exemplary professionals and future leaders able to serve national and regional development in one of the world’s most dynamic countries.  Successful candidates will be expected to contribute to the ongoing development of existing courses in the English Composition sequence, in Business Communications as well as to the Minor in Literature.  As the department expands, they will assist in the design and implementation of new programs and courses in Language Studies at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Successful candidates must engage in research and professional development that will contribute to the international research profile of the university.  The College seeks English faculty at the Assistant, Associate or Full Professor level with expertise in one of the following areas:  Language and Literature; Composition/Rhetoric with specialization in L2 composition; Business Communications; Applied Linguistics/Language Studies and Comparative Literature.

The Responsibilities
The positions require that the successful applicants engage in scholarly research, contribute to program and course initiatives, and offer service to the college and the university. 

The Requirements
An earned Doctoral Degree in English (or related discipline) is required. Candidates with further experience in teaching reading and writing to second language learners, or with content and language integrated learning are desireable.   

Candidates should have a record of publications and a significant research agenda in evidence. 

Candidates must provide evidence of effective teaching at undergraduate levels. 

Although not a specific requirement, particular consideration will be given to faculty who have experience in international or bilingual environments.
