Salary: £27,511 to £32,817 plus £4800 London weighting
Contract Type: Fixed Term - Initially for 6 months

The Planning and Statistics Directorate is looking to recruit a highly motivated assistant analyst on a 6-month contract to support the submission of statutory returns to the Higher Education Statistics Agency and other public bodies. The successful candidate will contribute to the university’s regulatory requirements and gain knowledge of the structure of university recording and reporting. They will also provide analytic and organisational support to the institution, delivering a range of reports and analysis, and supporting colleagues in their interpretation of these.
You should have excellent numeracy and literacy skills, an enquiring and analytical mind and a methodical approach to work and competence in working with data. You should have a sound knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite, especially the use of pivot tables and other advanced features of Excel. You also need to have familiarity with the structure and design of HESA or other public body datasets and/or experience of student record systems.
Experience of using data analysis and reporting tools such as Tableau, Business Objects and Alteryx would be an advantage. You should have experience of liaising within a large and complex organisation. A first degree or relevant experience is essential, as are well-developed organisational, communication and interpersonal skills. The post is suitable as a secondment for a person with such experience who wants to develop a wider understanding of HE reporting requirements.
You must work flexibly in a team whilst sustaining a high degree of initiative in your own area of work.
