St Mary’s University has a long and distinguished history and a very modern outlook. Since its foundation in 1850 it has fostered the intellectual, physical and spiritual development of its students to promote successful careers and flourishing lives.

St Mary’s Institute of Education aspires to be a model of collaborative engagement, in which provision for those working in diverse educational settings is characterised by outstanding professional research, practice and our distinctive and yet inclusive Catholic nature. This is manifested in a culture which promotes support and challenge, collaboration, partnership and passion for learning, in order to nurture those working with children, young people and their families to meet the challenges of today and anticipate and shape those of tomorrow.

We are now looking to appoint a Full Time Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Primary Education to support our teaching of Foundation Subjects (History, Geography, Computing and MFL) in our Initial Teacher Training Programmes.

Our new colleague will work with experienced colleagues to prepare and deliver a range of Foundation modules, in line with the Primary National Curriculum, to primary ITE trainees across undergraduate and PGCE programmes. A willingness to contribute to our cross-curricular teaching is desirable.  As part of your role you will also be required to support trainees on school placement and carry out recruitment and other education-related activities.

Qualified Teacher Status and experience of primary teaching are essential requirements for the post.

St Mary’s Institute of Education is committed to supporting staff to develop scholarly activity and research in their area of interest.
