Assistant Clinical Research Coordinator
Stanford University’s Department of Medicine, Division of Pulmonary, Allergy and Critical Care is seeking a full-time (100% FTE) Clinical Research Coordinator (CRC) to manage and coordinate multicenter randomized control trials investigating plasma and lung biomarkers and emerging therapeutic options that could help patients that are hospitalized with lung injury, often requiring intensive care. S/he will support the Principal Investigator and work closely with a group of highly committed clinical researchers. Responsibilities include initiating and maintaining current and accurate protocols involved in the implementation of clinical trials in critically ill patients. Prior clinical trial experience is a plus, as is advanced certification in clinical research (i.e., CCRA/CCRC) and knowledge of the clinical care patients in acute care settings. Critical care experience as a nurse or respiratory therapist is strongly encouraged. The position is full-time but will not be M-F, 9 to 5. The position provides/requires flexibility of work hours. Some days may only require a few hours of screening and record keeping but an ideal candidate will be available after hours or on weekends as dictated by timing of patient eligibility. Some flexibility to include evening hours (when the highest numbers of surrogates are typically available) is important. The position will require coordination on multiple clinical trials and necessitate experience and superior organizational skills to ensure rigorous compliance with all protocols and regulatory requirements.
- Schedule and/or call subjects for appointments; contact participants with reminders or other requirements.
- Perform clerical duties in the preparation of regulatory documents. Maintain all forms and documents, including consent forms and master subject logs. File all appropriate correspondence.
- Assist with the screening, recruiting, and obtaining consent of study participants. Review medical records and/or perform telephone or in-person interviews to gather data, as needed.
- Administer standard study questionnaires and tests, score test measurements and questionnaires, and code data for computer entry. Perform quantitative review of forms, tests, and other measurements for completeness and accuracy.
- Extract data from source documents for research studies as directed. Collect data and complete case report forms.
- Perform basic measurements and tests on patients according to protocol, such as obtaining vital signs and performing phlebotomy and EKG, after appropriate training/certification. Collect study specimens according to protocol.
- Prepare, process, and ship specimens/samples accurately under well-defined requirements.

- Strong interest in clinical medicine and advancing medical knowledge.
- Willingness to work as part of a cohesive and dedicated team of researchers
- Experience with pulmonary/critical care medicine
- Spanish fluency would be a major plus
- Clinical critical care experience is highly desirable.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE (REQUIRED):
- Two-year college degree and one year of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of experience, education, and training
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (REQUIRED):
- General knowledge of medical terminology.
CERTIFICATIONS & LICENSES:
- Working toward certification(s) to perform basic patient measurements and tests, such as phlebotomy and EKG.
- Frequently stand, walk, twist, bend, stoop, squat and use fine light/fine grasping.
- Occasionally sit, reach above shoulders, perform desk based computer tasks, use a telephone and write by hand, lift, carry, push, and pull objects that weigh up to 40 pounds.
- Rarely kneel, crawl, climb ladders, grasp forcefully, sort and file paperwork or parts, rarely lift, carry, push, and pull objects that weigh 40 pounds or more.
