Head of Media and Communications
Located in one of the most beautiful regions of the UK, between the Snowdonia National Park and Anglesey, Bangor University has occupied a central role in the educational provision of the area since its foundation in 1884. With approximately 11,000 students and 2,000 staff, the university offers a wide range of academic provision grouped in three Colleges. The university is proud of its focus on Welsh language and culture, with the widest range of Welsh-language provision of any university and its deep engagement with the unique culture of the region’s communities.
Following a strategic review of our marketing, recruitment and communications activity, we are now seeking to appoint to the role of Head of Media and Communications. We are looking for an ambitious senior media and communications professional who would like to help us become sector leading. The post requires someone who is experienced in working across all media to positively and proactively raise the profile of the organisation both in the UK and internationally.
Candidates should be educated to degree standard (or equivalent) and have significant previous experience in a similar role at a senior level. The role will report to the Director of Communications and Brand and will support the Chief Marketing Officer and Vice President International. It will focus on raising the profile of the University, particularly UK nationally and internationally via multiple media channels. Bangor University has outstanding academic and research credentials and is ambitious for the future, exciting times are ahead and now is the time to raise awareness of this in new and innovative ways.
As the role will include working with the Welsh media and other Welsh organisations, an ability to communicate in Welsh is essential for this post.
