The School of Biological Sciences invites applications for the position of Project Officer (Neuroscience).

Job Responsibilities

  • Conducting neuroscience research involving behavioural experiments and surgical procedures in rodents, histological characterization, image analyses with programming
  • Other administrative work (ordering, safety etc)

Job Requirements

  • A bachelor degree from a university in high reputation
  • Certificate for Responsible Care and Use of Laboratory Animal Course in Singapore
  • License for the use of laser equipment (N3 license)
  • Research experience in rodent handling (rats and mice), perfusion fixation, ip injections, rodent colony management, genotyping of transgenic mice, stereotaxic surgery, intracranial injection in rodents, in utero electroporation
  • Research experience in cell culture, molecular biology technique
  • Research experience in histological techniques including brain sectioning and immunostaining
  • Research experience in imaging techniques and image processing and analysis using Adobe Photoshop and ImageJ
  • Experience in laboratory administrative and management tasks including procurement, liaise with vendor for equipment maintenance and calibration, IACUC preparation and AUP annual review

The prestigious Lee Kuan Yew Postdoctoral Fellowship (LKY PDF) was established in 1991 under the Lee Kuan Yew Endowment Fund. The Fellowship supports and promotes young and outstanding researchers to realise their full potential in the areas of Engineering, Science, Humanities, and Medicine.

The Fellowship will be awarded concurrently with the candidate's appointment as a research staff in NTU.

Eligibility: 

• Excellent academic records and research potential.
• Recent PhD graduates, or with at most 1 postdoctoral training from a reputable university. 

Terms and Conditions: 
• The Fellowship will be tenable for a period of 3 years.  
• In addition to an attractive remuneration, the successful candidate will be awarded a research grant of S$180,000 for research consumables and research related expenditure.
