Job Title: Casual Catering Assistants & Casual Bar Assistants

Reports To: Deputy Catering Manager / Bar Manager
Grade: Band A/2 Salary: £10.55 per hour
Hours: Variable up to 20 hours or more depending on business requirements (Shift coverage: Monday – Sunday 7.15am-8pm for Catering assistants, 12noon-10.30pm for Bar Assistants)
Term: Casual/ Non- permanent
We are seeking experienced and highly motivated Casual Catering and Casual Bar Assistants to help support the service in delivering a high standard of food and drink offer to our students and customers in a welcoming and safe environment. We are also seeking a Catering Assistant who is able to drive a van.
You will have experience of working as a Casual Catering Assistant/ Barista/ Bar Assistant within the catering or hospitality industry.
You must have a positive, customer focused and ‘Can-do’ attitude. You will also have a passion for food and drink service, have the ability to work using your initiative and work as part of a team, be able to remain focused during busy times maintaining high levels of hygiene, food safety and attention to detail whilst offering speed and efficiency of service. You must also be physically fit to carry out various tasks of moving stock or equipment and carry out cleaning duties within the business.
You will be involved in the service of food and drink in different outlets on the campus and ensure customer satisfaction whilst helping to drive sales. You will be responsible for carrying out all food safety, health & safety and COSHH processes within food production and service areas. You will also carry out all washing up and cleaning duties to maintain the highest cleaning and hygiene standards in all areas. The Catering & Bar Services Department is an in-house operation at St. Mary’s. It caters to the food and beverage requirements for all catering and bar outlets and any events or meetings.
There will be no guarantee of hours especially during quiet or University closure periods.
