Description:

The Department of Economics in the Faculty of Arts and Science at the University of Toronto, St. George Campus invites applications for a full-time tenure stream appointment in Economics. The appointment will be at the rank of Assistant Professor and will commence on July 1, 2021, or shortly thereafter.

Applicants must have earned a PhD in Economics or related area by the time of appointment, or shortly thereafter, with a demonstrated record of research and teaching excellence in any of the subfields of Economics. We seek candidates whose research and teaching interests complement our existing departmental strengths. The successful candidate will be expected to conduct innovative and independent research at the highest international level, and to establish an outstanding, competitive, externally funded research program. The position comes with both undergraduate and graduate teaching responsibilities.

Candidates must provide evidence of excellence in research of the highest international caliber, as can be demonstrated by an innovative job market paper with a significant contribution to the literature, strong recommendations by referees of high standing, the submitted research statement, high quality working papers, publications in top-ranked and field relevant journals or forthcoming publications meeting high international standards, presentations at significant conferences, accolades, and awards. 

Evidence of excellence in teaching will be provided through teaching accomplishments, strong letters of reference, a statement of teaching philosophy, sample syllabi, and teaching evaluations, or other evidence of superior performance in teaching-related activities submitted as part of the application. Other teaching-related activities can include performance as a teaching assistant or course instructor, experience leading successful workshops or seminars, student mentorship, and excellent conference presentations or posters.

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
