CEU GmbH (Central European University Private University) is seeking the appointment of a Real Estate Project Manager with the capability of managing the development of the University’s Core Campus area and coordinating the development process with other development partners with complementary projects on the site. The Project Manager will take projects from conception through completion – including project initiation/ site control, feasibility analysis/financing plan, permitting, design, financing, construction, start-up and stabilization of operations. With 10+ years of experience, the ideal candidate will understand how a development project comes together, the roles of multiple development professionals, and how to keep a team moving to accomplish the project.


  • An undergraduate or advanced degree in Architecture or Engineering with a minimum 7 years working in a real estate development field and having experience in completing at least 3 property development projects.
  • Experience in working in collaborative and unstructured teams and managing those teams.
  • Strong communication and coordination skills that work with both internal and external stakeholders
  • Membership of RICS or equivalent national professional bodies is desirable.
  • Working knowledge, experience or recognised accreditation regarding sustainability principles in the build environment is an advantage.
  • Proficiency of Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Project and Microsoft Word and digital architectural software. Knowledge of BIM and Adobe Creative Suite preferred.
  • Proficiency in German and English
  • Ability to read, analyse, and interpret technical and, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
  • Ability to read architectural and engineering drawings; knowledge of site planning, architectural design construction techniques; real estate law; negotiations.
  • Ability to develop and manage budgets and understand job cost management. Ability to identify and resolve problems and develop alternative solutions in a timely manner

Duties and responsibilities

  • Managing the submittal of required applications, plans, supporting documents Strong understanding of construction principles/practices, project set up, budget planning and architecture. Maintain positive relationships with relevant jurisdictions, planning and Monumental Protection regulatory bodies
  • Coordinate the design teams in concept development and planning by working with staff, consultants, and elected bodies to manage and complete the design and city approval process.
  • Review of civil engineering and architectural plans
  • Drives the development process by updating schedules, budgets, timelines, financial information, and projections
  • Organize various meetings and prepare presentations for initial project introductions to a jurisdiction, neighbourhood meetings, public hearings, etc.
  • Manage all changes in scope, requests for information and proposed change orders
  • Assist with the preparation of RFPs, consultant bids, reviews and manages consultant and building construction contracts /contractors.
  • Monitor construction progress through periodic on-site observations.
  • Oversee development financial statement preparation and assisting with financial statements as needed to prepare for year-end audits.
  • Manage the detailed design phase of the projects, ensuring strict adherence to CEU’s specifications and attention to cost management
  • Ensuring that the projected expenditure is under constant review and any anticipated deviations are highlighted and controlled
  • Managing the bidding, negotiation and construction contract process
  • Monitor general contractor and vendor performance during construction phase. Ensuring that the projects are effectively handed over from the contract with completed documentation and in a ‘right first time’ manner.
  • Ensure that construction projects are in line with current health & safety laws
  • Support development efforts by working closely with other development partners on site
