The Digital Aviation Research and Technology Centre (DARTeC) due to open in 2020 is a £67 million investment with the aim to unlock the potential of digital aviation creating a ‘research ecosystem’ underpinned by our global research airport.
The Digital Systems Manager will ensure of the DARTeC Collaborative Data Storage and Analytics Systems are developed, managed, operated and supported efficiently to deliver a high quality, highly available service working with all Cranfield internal stakeholders including academic teams and the university’s Professional Support Units. The role will require working closely with industry co-investors at DARTeC Board level to ensure that the DARTeC digital resources are strategically fully aligned with their research needs and able to support current and future collaborative research programmes with Cranfield academic staff.
In this role, you will also be responsible for ensuring the security of all commercially sensitive data that is held and will require a detailed knowledge (with the ability to apply) of all appropriate internal and external standards and industry practices relating to data management.
You will have a Bachelor Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related subject (or hold equivalent experience). Candidates applying for the post will be able to demonstrate experience of supporting projects and processes including time, incident and change management. Demonstrable experience is also required of designing, managing and maintaining bespoke integrated systems that include; real-time operational and corporate IT systems, sensors, data storage and data analytics.
