Role Description

Greater use of agroforestry and mixed farming is an important way to increase the sustainability of European agriculture in the face of climate change and economic shocks, but farmers can be reluctant to adopt such systems as they are unable to capitalise on the enhanced societal and environment values. As part of new multi-partner EU-funded Horizon 2020 project called AGROMIX.

Cranfield University welcomes applications for an enthusiastic Research Assistant (who has recently submitted their PhD) or Research Fellow (with a PhD) who can advance the practice and science of agroforestry and mixed farming systems across multiple sites in Europe.

You will have experience of working with farmers and other stakeholders within the food system, experience of developing and using models to allow economic comparison of different land use systems, and a demonstrated drive to produce high quality reports and papers. This is an exciting position that provides the opportunity to work with a group of experienced and well-motivated researchers and practitioners from across Europe.

You must have a PhD (or close to completion) focused on agricultural systems, agricultural economics, or systems modelling, as well as a peer-reviewed journal publication record.
