- Any Discipline represented at Northumbria University

Northumbria University, Newcastle is a research-rich, business-focussed, professional university with a global reputation for academic excellence. Northumbria is ranked in the top 30 universities in the UK after a significant 20 place rise in The Guardian league table 2021 to 27th place overall and has the best score in the UK in the value-added measure, which looks at how a student's academic performance improves at university. Northumbria is also the top rated UK university in Times Higher Education’s Young University Rankings 2020.

At Northumbria we put students at the heart of the University and are committed to enhancing the student experience and delivering excellence in teaching and learning.

To support our Educational Strategic Plan we ideally wish to appoint a Professor or Associate Professor to lead on innovation and enhancement in learning, teaching and the student experience, alongside quality assurance.

Working closely with the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, the Academic Registrar, and members of the University’s Executive and Senior Management Group, you will support the strategic leadership of the University’s Education Strategy and drive performance in learning, teaching and the student experience to achieve transformational change.

You will contribute personally to building the University’s reputation and ranking through the excellence of your own research, and research informed teaching, and also by delivering leadership of teaching and learning and the student experience at institutional level.

You will be responsible for managing a small team of academic staff whose focus is on delivering quality assurance and enhancement initiatives in learning, teaching and the student experience.

You will be passionate about the student experience, knowledgeable about the TEF and new regulatory changes in the Sector and be able to demonstrate experience of delivering effective leadership of teaching and the student experience.

Finally, there is no prescribed discipline for this professorial role; we welcome applications from any discipline which aligns with one of Northumbria’s faculties and departments.  Your role will prioritise enhancement initiatives, but you will also engage within your discipline to maintain your teaching and research profile.
