Job Description Summary

Research Specialist B

We are looking for a research specialist/lab manager to supervise and work in a fast-paced cancer immunology laboratory. This research specialist will be responsible for managing the lab, ordering and stocking of reagents and supplies, maintaining the safety protocols and paperwork, and maintance of flow cytometry equipment. Other aspects of the position include maintenance and expansion of frozen tumor and pbmc stock, and facilitating acquisition of study samples and coordinating operations between the Research lab and various clinical groups and transferring samples to and from the lab.

This research specialist will also focus on one main research project; however, he/she will also interact with and assist other members of the lab with a variety of tasks. Thus, abilities to plan complex experiments, multitask, and work independently will be required.

Job Description

Research Specialist B

Lab management: Ordering and stocking of reagents; Maintaining safety protocols and paperwork, prepartions for lab inspection.

Facilitating acquisition and transfer of study samples between clinical groups and the lab

Flow cytometry.  Cell labeling; cell fixation, permeabilization, and intracytoplasmic staining; independently operating and maintenance of state of the art – flow cytometer.

Tissue processing and lymphocyte extraction.  Preparation and storage of single cell suspensions from various tissues, especially tumor, lymph nodes, spleen, and blood.       

Tissue culture work.  Thawing of frozen cells, maintenance of long term T cell cultures, ex-vivo stimulation of T cells.

Perform additional duties as assigned. Position contingent upon funding.

Bachelor's Degree and 1-3 years of experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience required.
