Part-Time (0.2 FTE), Fixed Term – 15 months

Applications are invited for the post of Peer Therapist in the Department of Psychology

The peer therapist will work in the UK on Phase 2 of the HEADS-UP project (http://pc.rhul.ac.uk/sites/headsup), under the regular supervision of the Principal Investigator (PI), Dr. Michael Evangeli, Reader in Clinical Psychology. The study aims to develop and test the feasibility of a behavioural intervention to increase onward HIV disclosure levels and support onward HIV disclosure decision-making in perinatally infected adolescents/young adults with HIV in the UK and Uganda.

There are two phases to the study:

  • Developing the planned intervention for each context (Phase 1: 15 months).
  • Conducting a randomised feasibility parallel group trial of the intervention alongside a standard of care condition (Phase 2: 15 months).

The successful candidate will have knowledge of issues affecting people living with HIV, be a strong communicator, have good listening skills, and be able to work independently.

In return we offer a highly competitive rewards and benefits package including generous annual leave and training and development opportunities. The post is mainly remotely based, however the post holder may be required to work at any of the locations at which the business of Royal Holloway is conducted.

This is a fixed term post to cover the period of the study.
