* The Dean and Head of School (HoS) Nursing provides outstanding academic leadership to the Adelaide Nursing School

The Adelaide Nursing School is one of five Schools that comprise the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences. The School supports the vision and objectives of the University of Adelaide and the Faculty in achieving wide national and international recognition by delivering research of an international standard.

Reporting to the Executive Dean, the Dean and HoS Nursing contributes to the overall management and leadership of the Faculty, working in close collaboration with other Heads of School, Deputy Deans and the Faculty Executive Director.

To succeed in this position, you will have excellent leadership, communication and interpersonal skills, and a distinguished teaching and research track record. A collegiate approach to working is considered important as is the ability to work effectively with partners and colleagues.

To be successful you will need:

  • A record of academic distinction and significant professional standing within the discipline, including a PhD in an area relevant to the discipline.
  • Established reputation as a respected leader including experience in strategy development and planning, leading change, and evidence of an effective contribution to a leadership team. 
  • Evidence of an inspirational leadership style which promotes a culture of high performance engagement and commitment.
  • The ability to effectively manage relevant operational aspects of a School including demonstrated financial acumen.
  • Demonstrated ability to forge meaningful external relationships and represent the School, Faculty and the University locally, nationally and internationally, to community, industry and other academic institutions and partners.
