We are seeking to recruit a dynamic and experienced lecturer of Physical Education and Youth Sport Development to join our teaching staff. Applications are encouraged from individuals wishing to be part of an ambitious team with industry relevant programmes and contemporary approaches to teaching and learning in H.E. It is anticipated that the successful applicant will be able to draw upon extensive experience in PE teaching and/or youth sport development to enrich teaching and knowledge transfer.
You will undertake teaching and assessment duties in foundation, undergraduate and potentially postgraduate programmes within the Faculty and contribute to associated curriculum development and planning. You will be expected to undertake research and scholarly activity and contribute to recruitment, outreach and knowledge transfer activities. You will be required to provide pastoral support for students and there will be opportunities to take on leadership responsibilities for various programme related activities. You will be expected to have knowledge of developments in contemporary PE and/or youth sport development in inclusive environments. We require you to have an ability to contribute to or lead modules drawing upon two or more of the following areas of specialism: childhood and adolescent health and well-being, dance, gymnastics and expressive arts (and how these contribute to holistic development), innovations in Physical Education, positive youth development and adapted physical activity.
The post is located in the Department of Psychology and Pedagogic Science which houses programmes such as: BA PE, Sport and Youth Development (formerly Physical and Sport Education), FD Sports Coaching, FD Football Education, Development and Coaching, BSc Sports Coaching Science, BSc Performance Analysis and Talent Identification, MSc Professional development in - Sports Coaching/Rugby Performance/Performance Analysis, MSc Performance Football Coaching (online) and Psychology (BSc) BSc Psychology and MSc Psychology of Mental Health. The Department is looking to maintain an innovative portfolio and we have several new programmes undergoing development to start from September 2021-2022. We are looking to reinforce St Mary’s reputation as a centre for excellence in PE teaching and youth sport development and we are presently looking to recruit new staff to join our team and extend our expertise.
