Assistant/Associate Professor of Music Composition

The Department of Music at the University of Chicago invites applications for a tenure-track position in Composition. We seek a composer to join our faculty at the rank of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor, with an expected start date of July 1, 2021, or as soon as possible thereafter. Minimum teaching load: four courses per year at the graduate and undergraduate levels, plus usual advising and committee responsibilities.
We seek a composer with an active creative and performance profile who can also contribute to building the composition program and has the potential to take on leadership roles. Applicants must also have professional experience that demonstrates the ability to be an effective teacher and mentor at the University. Preferred qualifications include a PhD or equivalent degree in Music or a related field and a documented record of excellence in teaching at the University level.
