At TU Dresden, the Center for Regenerative Therapies Dresden (CRTD), an institute of the Center for Molecular and Cellular Bioengineering (CMCB), offers a project position as

Research Associate in Point-of-Care diagnostics

(Subject to personal qualification employees are remunerated according to salary group E 13 TV-L)

starting as soon as possible. The full-time position is initially limited until 30.06.2022. The period of employment is governed by § 2 (2) Fixed Term Research Contracts Act (Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz – WissZeitVG).

The Center for Regenerative Therapies Dresden (CRTD; www.crt-dresden.de) is a research center with currently 22 research groups and 250 employees. The CRTD's research focuses on regenerative and stem cell research, with research approaches ranging from basic research to application in a clinical-translational context, thus laying the foundation for novel diagnoses and therapeutic options. The place of work is the Institute of Biofunctional Polymer Materials, which is part of the Leibniz Institute of Polymer Research Dresden (IPF).

Tasks: You will work independently in close collaboration with the medical department for Microbiology at the University Hospital Carl Gustav Carus and the Leibniz Institute of Polymer Research Dresden (IPF) to develop an integrative Point-of-care diagnostics device for viral and bacterial pathogens. You will develop and evaluate hard- and software (including additive manufacturing, manifold development, and system integration) for the detection system based on nucleic acid amplification. We expect you to advance the project by presenting the findings at national and international conference and in publications. You are also responsible for instructing and guiding technical staff.

Requirements: University degree in a scientific-technical subject (master or diploma in engineering or physics or PhD in engineering or physics, preferably in electronics, materials sciences, mechanical engineering) or a similarly suitable degree programme with 1-3 years of experience in electronics and/or additive manufacturing. In addition, strong communication skills and intercultural competence as well as reliability, initiative, capacity for teamwork and a high level of motivation are required. Additional knowledge in software and app-development is desirable.
