RESEARCH ASSOCIATE, Mechanical Engineering, to research and develop traditional digital and 3D visual media. Will develop augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (AR) applications for students to learn various engineering and manufacturing concepts in different didactic environments; conduct user research to investigate how different modes of content delivery and instruction through AR/VR influence spatial thinking and design thinking; contribute to education research literature; innovate on current state-of-the-art AR/VR technology to deliver learning experiences that better meet learning objectives and at cost and scale; publish research findings in AR/VR; and support digital course production including storyboarding, animations, and media editing (video/audio) and storyboarding. 

Job Requirements

REQUIRED:  a Ph.D. in architecture, engineering, or visual media or a master’s degree with a research component and at least three years of relevant work experience; expertise in research and development of AR/VR applications; experience with instructional design and education research, specifically in evaluating the effectiveness of learning initiatives; strong problem solving/debugging skills and working knowledge of standard web markup languages and best practices (HTML/XML/CSS); ability to carry out all stages of video production; familiarity with at least one common video editing software; strong communication and organizational skills; and the ability to multitask, support multiple projects simultaneously, quickly master new technologies, and build strong working relationships in a fast-paced and rapidly changing work environment.  Familiarity with content production on the edX platform is highly preferable.  Job #17944
