Applications are invited for appointment as Tenure-Track Non-Clinical Associate Professor/Assistant Professor in the Medical Ethics and Humanities Unit (Ref.: 502080), to commence as soon as possible, on a three-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal and with consideration for tenure before the expiry of a second fixed-term contract.

Applicants should possess a doctorate level degree in Education, Science, Social Science, Arts or a related field, preferably with clinical background and experience in medical humanities and ethics.  They should also have solid evidence of teaching, curriculum development and research, especially those of an interdisciplinary nature; a track record of publications in humanities, ethics, medicine or an interdisciplinary field; and a understanding of the medical training culture and health care system.  Excellent communication skills that can facilitate dialogue between clinicians and humanities, and a good network of Hong Kong’s civic sectors or NGOs with potential teaching partners of Medical Humanities programme are desirable.

A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits.  At current rates, salaries tax does not exceed 15% of gross income.  The appointment will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 15% of basic salary.  Housing benefits will also be provided as applicable.
