ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF ADMISSIONS, Admissions Office, to serve as a key member of the process team, leading major components of MIT’s admissions process. Will work under the direction of the associate director of admissions/director of selection to liaise with MIT faculty and staff in the recruitment and selection of gifted and talented musicians, artists, ROTC prospects, veterans, and other select applicants; develop and maintain high-level relationships with relevant stakeholders and collaborate with other senior program managers at MIT as appropriate; and review and select undergraduate applicants with a full admissions caseload and actively participate on the admissions selection committee. Other duties will include several weeks of national and local travel to recruit students and meet with alumni/ae, and assisting with other recruitment and yield activities as needed.
Job Requirements
REQUIRED: a bachelor's degree; at least three years’ related experience; excellent public speaking, communication, interpersonal, organizational, project management, analytical, and strategic thinking skills; experience working collaboratively with diverse populations; good judgment and discretion; and a driver's license.
PREFERRED: experience working in college admissions or higher education, including at least two years of; experience in selective college admissions. Job #18909-7
Under normal circumstances, regular evening and weekend work is required during the academic year. Several weeks of air travel is also normally required annually.
For the foreseeable future, all recruitment activities have been virtualized. Familiarity with virtual event platforms and remote presentation are strongly recommended, as well as the flexibility to adjust to rapidly changing circumstances. Please note that currently, due to the pandemic, all travel and in-person recruitment activities have been suspended. Recruitment travel programs will resume when safe to do so from a public health perspective.
