We are looking for an HR Specialist with expertise in international staff mobility for a temporary position of two years.

International mobility is an integral part of research activities. More than a hundred researchers and staff members go abroad to work for the University of Helsinki each year. In order to ensure smooth assignment processes and practices, we are looking for an international HR specialist to manage and deliver related services for the next two years.

About the job

As international HR specialist, your main task is to support researcher mobility from Finland to other countries. You will be the expert answering challenging and complicated questions related to working abroad, in charge of handling employer obligations abroad, and our liaison with consultancy services and officials. You will guide and train our staff with issues related to international mobility, including recruitment processes that require expertise with international HR issues. You will also join our national and international networks for researcher and global mobility.

You will work in close cooperation with the staff in our units, HR services and payroll, as well as with officials and consultancy services. A typical assignment will include collaboration with the aforementioned partners, research into the other country’s official processes, handling of employer registrations and acting as the university representative when dealing with officials and consultants. As an employer, smooth and functional collaboration is important to us, and we trust that you take care of our employees’ employment, taxation and social security issues promptly and professionally.

What we expect from you

You are proactive, solution and customer oriented. You have good collaboration skills and an eye for changing situations and the ability to adapt your work accordingly. You have experience working with international HR issues and good understanding of the Finnish social security and taxation systems, legislation related to researcher mobility as well as the topic of working abroad and assignments in general, including remote work and local hires. Existing networks and connections to the main officials and other related organisations are of benefit.

You work fluently in English and have passable Finnish language skills. Other language skills are of benefit. Your higher education degree supports your work in this position.

In this position you will be able to further extend your networks in global mobility with international officials and organisations as well as with other higher education institutes in Finland and abroad. The tasks form a diverse and interesting combination of concrete duties, development and training, all of which allows you to dig deep into the world of international staff mobility. The content of the duties and tasks can be somewhat modified based on your experience and interests.

This position is in the employer branding and recruitment team in our 120 person strong HR service unit. Our team has eight experts, and we all work with versatile goals related to employer branding, recruitment and international HR. We also have strong knowhow in international HR issues throughout the HR services to support you in your work.

The salary is between 3400€ and 3700€, based on the requirement level of the position and the experience of the employee.
