LTH forms the Faculty of Engineering at Lund University, with approximately 9 000 students. The research carried out at LTH is of a high international standard and we are continuously developing our teaching methods and adapting our courses to current needs.

Work duties
Researchers in Technical Acoustics must be a person who is keen to participate in research and development and the interaction with the rest of the department’s research group but also for their own development.

  • Research within the subject area
  • Development of the acoustic lab and facilities
  • Teaching in the first, second and third cycles of studies
  • Take opportunities for training in higher education teaching
  • Supervision of degree projects and doctoral students
  • Actively seek external research funding
  • Actively seek industrial and consultancy partners in the subject area
  • Collaboration with industry and the wider society
  • Administration related to the work duties listed above

Qualification  requirements

Applicants must have:

  • a PhD or equivalent research qualification within the subject of the position.
  • very good oral and written proficiency in English. Good ability to give technical speeches to different types of listeners, to write academic articles, and present science in various forms to a public audience.
  • very good ability to give lectures in the subject area.
  • ability to perform analyses through different types of calculation methods within the subject area regarding both low and high frequencies, such as finite element methods (FEM) and boundary element methods (BEM), statistical energy analysis, new computational methods etc.
  • ability to perform sound and vibration measurements, both according to standard procedures or according to newly discovered measurement layouts.
  • ability, interest and flexibility to work with different types of assignments in the subject area, such as research and commercial projects regarding lab measurements and numerical calculations, supervision of dissertations, collaboration with doctoral students, teaching.
  • work experience for at least five years in the consulting industry in the subject area and for at least two years as an assignment manager. Ability to acquire new customers, run own projects, manage their finances.
  • ability to engage and lead colleagues in projects within the subject area.
  • must be a team player, committed, and independent.

Other qualifications 

  • Work experience in various market sectors.
  • Good network within a national acoustic society.
  • Experience in carrying out and conducting research and development both in Swedish and European public / academic projects and in the private sector.
  • Experience with commercial software, such as MATLAB, COMSOL, VA One or similar.
  • Experience with measurement systems, such as NI, Bruel & Kjaer or similar.
  • Accustomed to working in an acoustic lab environment.
  • Ability to work with several ongoing projects and to organize their work in an efficient manner.
  • Experience of using the Swedish language professionally.
  • Consideration will also be given to good collaborative skills, drive and independence, and how the applicant’s experience and skills complement and strengthen ongoing research within the department, and how they will contribute to its future development.

Terms of employment

Fixed-term employment 2 years, 50 %.
