Job Details

The School of Physical and Mathematical Sciences is looking for a motivated and adaptive individual to join us as a Research Fellow. This position is funded by a Ministry of Education AcRF Tier 2 grant of Li Yi. The goal of the project is to develop new theory and algorithms for massive datasets, with a particular focus on space- and time-efficient algorithms related to numerical linear algebra.

Job Responsibilities

  • Pursue cutting-edge research in algorithms for massive datasets
  • Write or contribute to publications, and attend conferences and workshops, for disseminating research findings

Job Requirements

  • PhD in theoretical computer science, mathematics, or a relevant area
  • A good background in probability in theoretical computer science
  • A good record of relevant publications
  • Research experience in problems related to big data algorithms, such as sublinear-time algorithms, streaming algorithms and randomized numerical linear algebra algorithms, would be an advantage

The prestigious Lee Kuan Yew Postdoctoral Fellowship (LKY PDF) was established in 1991 under the Lee Kuan Yew Endowment Fund. The Fellowship supports and promotes young and outstanding researchers to realise their full potential in the areas of Engineering, Science, Humanities, and Medicine.

The Fellowship will be awarded concurrently with the candidate's appointment as a research staff in NTU.

Eligibility: 

• Excellent academic records and research potential.
• Recent PhD graduates, or with at most 1 postdoctoral training from a reputable university. 

Terms and Conditions: 
• The Fellowship will be tenable for a period of 3 years.  
• In addition to an attractive remuneration, the successful candidate will be awarded a research grant of S$180,000 for research consumables and research related expenditure.
