The Earth Observatory of Singapore invite applications for Research Fellow in seismology.  

Job Responsibilities

  • Process the seismic waveform data to detect earthquakes, tremors and any seismic sources
  • Relocate the seismicity and make proper interpretation to the finding
  • Mentoring junior group members
  • Report to the group leader for the progress of the research
  • Write progress reports and papers, make presentation and lead paper reading in group meetings
  • Participate in fieldworks and workshops
  • Attend international conferences and make presentations

Job Requirements

  • PhD in seismology or geophysics
  • Experienced in writing and publishing tier-1 geophysics journals
  • Able to communicate fluently in English both in writing and speaking
  • Possess good teamwork spirit and willing to mentor and help other group members

About Lee Kuan Yew Postdoctoral Fellowship (LKY PDF)

The prestigious Lee Kuan Yew Postdoctoral Fellowship (LKY PDF) was established in 1991 under the Lee Kuan Yew Endowment Fund. The Fellowship supports and promotes young and outstanding researchers to realise their full potential in the areas of Engineering, Science, Humanities, and Medicine.

The Fellowship will be awarded concurrently with the candidate's appointment as a research staff in NTU.

Eligibility: 

• Excellent academic records and research potential.
• Recent PhD graduates, or with at most 1 postdoctoral training from a reputable university. 

Terms and Conditions: 
• The Fellowship will be tenable for a period of 3 years.  
• In addition to an attractive remuneration, the successful candidate will be awarded a research grant of S$180,000 for research consumables and research related expenditure.
