Description
The Department of Clinical Studies, New Bolton Center, is offering a 1-year Lecturer or temporary locum position in Theriogenology.  The position is in the Section of Reproduction and Behavior in the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine.  The start date for the position is March 1, 2020 with a negotiable end date after July 31, 2020, but not to exceed 1 year.  Currently, the Section has seven faculty/professional staff, including five Diplomates and one Honorary Member of the American College of Theriogenologists who is also an Applied Animal Behaviorist.

The position requires a DVM/VMD or equivalent degree, Board Certification in the American College of Theriogenologists, and strong clinical experience in equine theriogenology, including but not limited to experience in all aspects of equine breeding management, dystocia management, pre- and post-partum mare management, stallion fertility evaluation and management, transvaginal oocyte aspiration, and embryo transfer.  Although the caseload is over 90% equine, the successful candidate must also be capable of performing reproductive evaluation of other farm animals including cattle, small ruminants, and camelids.  The position is full-time and provides a competitive salary commensurate with experience level as well as an outstanding benefits package.

Responsibilities include a combination of daytime clinical duty and after-hours clinical and emergency duty as well as didactic, laboratory and clinical teaching of house officers and 1st through 4th year veterinary students, as well as participation in the equine endometrial biopsy service.  The position does not have a research requirement; however, for the interested individual, opportunities to participate in ongoing clinical research are available.
