Assistant Professor - Suicide Prevention
The Department of Psychiatry at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for an Assistant Professor position in the non-tenure clinician educator track. Expertise is required in the specific area of suicide prevention research, with a track record demonstrating exceptional promise as an independent researcher. The ideal candidate will also be a licensed psychologist in Pennsylvania with experience providing training and consultation/supervision in evidence-based practice for suicide prevention, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Therapy for Suicide Prevention and the Safety Planning Intervention. Previous experience collaborating with large healthcare systems is also desired. Applicants must have a Ph.D. or equivalent degree. License or license eligibility in Pennsylvania is required.
Teaching responsibilities may include providing suicide prevention training for staff members and trainees in the Penn healthcare system.
Clinical responsibilities may include leading training initiatives in evidence based practices, including but not limited to Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for depression and suicidal thoughts and behaviors. Clinical responsibilities may also include facilitating individual and group interventions for suicidal individuals.
Research or scholarship responsibilities may include developing an independent research agenda on the development and implementation of evidence-based practices for suicide prevention, with a focus on special populations, including children and adolescents, as well as individuals with autism.
Applicants must have demonstrated excellent qualifications in education and research.
The Penn Center for the Prevention of Suicide has a 15-year history of using research to develop and evaluate evidence-based practices for suicide prevention and to improve the care of individuals at-risk for suicide in healthcare settings.
