Associate/ Full Professor- Labatt Chair in Neurosurgery Research

Applications for the Labatt Chair in Neurosurgery Research at St. Michael’s Hospital-Unity Health Toronto are being sought. This is a five-year, renewable once, joint University of Toronto and St. Michael’s Hospital endowed chair. The tentative start date of this appointment is October 1, 2020.

The successful candidate will be an internationally recognized clinician-scientist or scientist with an established research program focused on neurosurgery, or related conditions including leading edge minimally invasive neurosurgery therapies, clinical trials in neurosurgery and quality assurance outcomes related research.  Applicants must already hold an academic appointment that should be at the rank of Associate or Full Professor at the University of Toronto and be eligible for certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, and licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario. The candidate must not currently hold an endowed chair, or salary award. 

Applicants will be evaluated by an Appointments Committee according to University of Toronto and St. Michael’s Hospital Policies. Consideration will be given to the applicant’s record of scholarly activity (including grants, peer-reviewed publications, record of program development, collaborations with organizations nationally and internationally, supervision of graduate students and fellows).  Professionalism and contributions to St. Michael’s Hospital and the KRCBS/LKSKI will also be considered.

The endowed chair will support academic activities of the chairholder, which may include salary support, research operations, and relevant educational events.

Applicants should submit a curriculum vitae (Web CV or Common CV), a 2-page outline of their academic program (including research productivity, training activities and academic prominence), and a 1 to 2-page description of how the endowment would be used. Names and contact information of three referees must also be submitted.
