Assistant Professor - Center for Inherited Heart Diseases
The Division of Cardiovascular Medicine in the Department of Medicine at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for several Assistant Professor positions in the non-tenure clinician educator track. Expertise is required in the specific area of patients with inherited forms of cardiovascular disease. Applicants must have an M.D. degree. Candidates must be board certified in internal medicine and board eligible/certified in cardiovascular disease.
Teaching responsibilities may include teaching medical students and medical residents in a variety of settings, including lecturing, small group sessions, and mentoring general cardiology fellows and heart failure fellows.
Clinical responsibilities may include caring for patients in the Penn Heart Failure and Transplantation Ambulatory Care Center in the Heart and Vascular Center in addition to attending on the inpatient heart failure and transplant service.
Research or scholarship responsibilities may include establishing an innovative and independent research program that will attract and maintain extramural funding from governmental agencies, private foundations and industry.
The successful applicants will join an established center staffed by physicians specializing in inherited cardiomyopathy, arrhythmia's, and aortopathies, a program manager, two genetics counselors, a nurse practitioner, two nurses and a research study coordinator. The Center provides multiple opportunities for research endeavors in human genetics and precision medicine.
