Description
The Department of Anesthesiology and Critical Care at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for an Assistant Professor position in the non-tenure academic clinician track. Expertise is required in the specific area of critical care anesthesia, preference is given to those with cardiac anesthesia experience.

Teaching responsibilities may include instruction of medical students and residents rotating through the operating rooms and wards of the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania (HUP) and the Penn Presbyterian Medical Center (PPMC) as well as participation in the didactic series of the department.

Clinical responsibilities may include the provision of clinical anesthesia in the operating rooms of the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania (HUP) and the Penn Presbyterian Medical Center (PPMC). While in the operating room, the primary focus will be critical care cases.

Applicants must have an M.D. or M.D./Ph.D. or equivalent degree. ABA certification in anesthesia, eligibility or equivalent and Pennsylvania licensure required.

The multidisciplinary team of the HVICU at HUP is managed daily by the HVICU intensivist and accommodates a Cardiac Surgery annual volume of circa 1700 patients, including heart and lung transplants, VADs, aortic and TAVR, and more conventional CABG, Valve, Adult Congenital and redo operations. PPMC has 800 cardiac surgical procedures annually.
