A Senior Research Fellow position is available in the Laboratory of Assistant Professor Marek Mutwil at the School of Biological Sciences, Nanyang Technological University.

Job Responsibilities

  • Carry out the research project, and be responsible for administrative and logistical upkeep pertaining to laboratory operations

Job Requirements

  • PhD degree in biology/chemistry with at least 5 years of relevant post-doctoral experience
  • Substantial experience in molecular biology, including various assays that measure growth of microorganisms
  • Knowledge of working with human pathogens is desired
  • While not essential, applicants with experience in activity-guided purification of active metabolites is a big bonus
  • Applicants should be highly collegial and demonstrated to be able to work effectively in “team science” contexts
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English are required, along with ample experience with scientific writing
  • You will be asked to describe past examples of having developed structured approaches to solving unanticipated and complex problems

The prestigious Lee Kuan Yew Postdoctoral Fellowship (LKY PDF) was established in 1991 under the Lee Kuan Yew Endowment Fund. The Fellowship supports and promotes young and outstanding researchers to realise their full potential in the areas of Engineering, Science, Humanities, and Medicine.

The Fellowship will be awarded concurrently with the candidate's appointment as a research staff in NTU.

Eligibility: 

• Excellent academic records and research potential.
• Recent PhD graduates, or with at most 1 postdoctoral training from a reputable university. 

Terms and Conditions: 
• The Fellowship will be tenable for a period of 3 years.  
• In addition to an attractive remuneration, the successful candidate will be awarded a research grant of S$180,000 for research consumables and research related expenditure.
