Description
The Department of Biostatistics, Epidemiology, and Informatics at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for several Assistant Professor positions in either the non-tenure clinician educator track or the tenure track. Expertise is required in the specific area of environmental epidemiology. Applicants should have a research program that links the use of exposure science (exposure assessment, biosensors, biomarkers, geographic information systems, cartographic tools) with diseases of environmental etiology (e.g., cancer subtypes, lung and airway disease, metabolic diseases, or developmental basis of adult-disease etc.) Expertise in the epidemiological design of retrospective and prospective studies and the analysis of large data sets is desirable.

Teaching responsibilities may include participation in Penn’s Center for Clinical Epidemiology and Biostatistics (CCEB) and Center of Excellence in Environmental Toxicology (CEET) training programs.

Clinical responsibilities may include patient care activities in the faculty member’s clinical specialty (if relevant).

Research or scholarship responsibilities may include variations based upon faculty track and rank. Clinician Educator track faculty will typically be focused on collaborative research as co-investigators. Tenure track faculty will be principal investigators of extramurally funded research projects.

Successful applicants are expected to have at least several years of postdoctoral epidemiological research experience and preferably are at the Assistant Professor rank. The applicant must have a disease focus or must be developing new methods for epidemiological studies, and should preferably have grant funding (K-award or equivalent).

Applicants must have an M.D. and/or Ph.D degree.

The primary faculty appointment will be in the Department of Biostatistics, Epidemiology and Informatics, or other School of Medicine departments, as appropriate. Additional appointments will be in Penn's Environmental Health Sciences Center, CEET, and CCEB, and also as appropriate with the Population Sciences Program of the Abramson Cancer Center and the Institute for Bioinformatics (IBI).

We seek candidates who embrace and reflect diversity in the broadest sense.
