Job Description Summary

At the direction of the Assistant Chief of Physics-Blue Region, the Medical Physicist C is an ABR/ABMP board certified Medical Physicist who will play a primary role in meeting the overall clinical physics needs in the Penn Medicine network. Specifically, the Medical Physicist C will provide clinical coverage of network physics activities, including QA of Linear accelerator, treatment planning needs, special treatment procedures, advanced CT or 4DCT simulation, and implementing new treatment techniques. The Medical Physicist C is expected to maintain knowledge of current technologies. For this position, the primary site of coverage is Cape Regional Health System.

Job Description

The Medial Physicist C is a board certified Medical Physicist whose primary responsibility will be at Penn Medicine Cape Regional Health System. At the direction of the Assistant Chief of Physics, the Medical Physicist C will assume a lead role in the Medical Physics division & will participate in meeting the overall clinical physics needs of the Radiation Oncology section. Specifically, the Medical Physicist C will be familiar with clinical procedures guiding Radiation Therapy Clinical Physics and with the overall needs of the Radiation Oncology Section in the technical area including equipment quality assurance and calibration, simulation and treatment planning, patient specific quality assurance and required chart checks and review, equipment maintenance and vendor relations, radiation safety, and special physics activities. This position will also require the Medical Physicist C to familiarize themselves with and follow all departmental guidelines, policies and procedure. There is also an expectation of participations, when possible, in some departmental meeting and other activities related to QA/QC. The Medical Physicist C is expected to maintain knowledge of current technologies and remain an active member of the American Association of Physicist in Medicine. The Medical Physicist C will serve as a clinical mentor for staff physicists in Medical Physicist A and B levels.

Must possess high level knowledge of and experience Mosaiq (2.62 preferred), Eclipse, True Beam,  and in all conventional clinical physics procedures, including but not limited to, operation and calibration of treatment devices, operation and calibration of dosimetry equipment, operation and calibration of treatment planning systems, quality assurance procedures, “specialized procedures” (SRS, SBRT), and familiarity safety procedures and regulations as per the PA and NJ Department of Environmental Protection.

Master's Degree  and 7 years of experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience required. ABR/ABMP Board certification is required.
