Job Description Summary

This position is located at the NEW BOLTON CENTER CAMPUS located in KENNETT SQUARE, PA.  NO public transportation available. 
 Provide laboratory animal care at a large canine facility in a safe, humane and sanitary manner, adhering to all federal, state, local and University regulations, guidelines and policies.  Candidate is responsible for cleaning/disinfection of kennel runs or cage holding areas on a daily basis.  Will also maintain other areas of facility outside of dog rooms.  Ability to administer medications as directed by veterinarians and monitor animals after anesthesia procedures.  Make observations  Candidate is also responsible for feeding and bathing dogs, trimming nails, weighing dogs and recording weights.

Candidate will work a flexible staggered work schedule (example: Wednesday-Sunday) and assigned holidays.  Position located in Kennett Square, PA.  No public transportation available. Valid drivers license required. 

Job Description

  • Provide excellent dog care in a safe, humane and sanitary manner, adhering to all federal, state, local and University regulations, guidelines and policies.
  • Daily cleaning/disinfection of canine enclosures  - mostly kennel runs – few transport cages.
  • Husbandry procedures such as weights, trimming nails, cleaning ears and bathing dogs according to schedule.
  • Maintain cleanliness of facility including labs.
  • Recover animals after procedures.
  • Must be extremely observant to animals needs and report issues to senior staff.
  • Excellent communication skills and attention to detail required.
  • Working staggered work schedule and assigned holidays is required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Candidate must have the ability to work a flexible staggered work schedule (ex: Wednesday through Sunday) and assigned holidays.

Qualifications

  • Ability to lift over 50 lbs. on a routine basis – required
  • Ability to bend, crouch, climb ladders and do physically demanding work on a daily basis – required
  • High school diploma or GED  - preferred
  • 1 years experience with animals – preferred
  • Ability to work well with others and work independently – required
  • Ability to work flexible staggered work schedule, (ex: Wednesday-Sunday) and assigned holidays-required
  • Valid drivers license – required POSITION LOCATED IN KENNETT SQ.- NO PUBLIC TRANS. AVAILABLE

Physical Effort

Frequent lifting, occasionally need to lift up to 50 lbs,. Typically standing or walking, intermittently stooping, crouching, bending.
