Stanford University is seeking a Life Science Research Professional 1 to perform basic functions and activities involved in defined research projects, and independently conduct and analyze experiments focused on adoptive T cell immunotherapy for pediatric solid tumors. The projects in the Majzner lab will primarily focus on the use of chimeric antigen receptor T cells that can recognize multiple antigenic targets on pediatric tumors. The Majzner lab and the umbrella Stanford Center for Cancer Cell Therapy has developed several immunotherapies that are currently in clinical trials or being planned for human studies in the near future. Drawing on this success, we continue to seek out further ways to improve care for children with cancer.

Duties include:

• Plan and perform experiments in support of research projects in lab and/or field based on knowledge of scientific theory. Interpret and perform basic analyses of results.
• Review literature on an ongoing basis to remain current with new procedures and related research.
• Offer suggestions regarding modifications to procedures and protocols in collaboration with graduate post-doctoral individuals.
• Maintain detailed records of experiments and outcomes.
• Contribute to publication of findings as needed. Participate in the preparation of written documents, including procedures, presentations, and proposals.
• Help with general lab maintenance as needed; maintain lab stock, manage chemical inventory and safety records, and provide general lab support as needed.
• Help orient and train new staff or students.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• The candidate must have earned at least a BA or BS. It is preferred, but not required, that this degree be in a life science discipline. Applicants with degrees in other disciplines will be considered if he/she has experience in the life sciences.
• The desired candidate should have experience in immunological techniques such as ELISA, flow cytometry, and cell culture of primary immune cells. Experience in adoptive T cell therapy, production of viral supernatant, cell culture and CRISPR/Cas9 preferred but not required. Experience transducing T cells is highly desired. A bachelor’s degree in cell biology or molecular biology is preferred

• Bachelor's degree in related scientific field.
