Description

The University of Chicago's Department of Surgery, Section of Transplantation, is searching for a full-time faculty member at any rank. The appointee will have experience in kidney/pancreas transplantation, organ recovery, and laparoscopic donor nephrectomy.  This is an excellent opportunity for an individual to join a progressive kidney transplant practice with a strong focus on living donor transplantation; and pursue opportunities with surgically and/or medically high-risk deceased donors, laparoscopic nephrectomy, dialysis access, and diverse general surgical activity.  Other duties will include teaching and supervision of trainees and students, and scholarly activity. Academic rank and compensation (including a generous package of fringe benefits) are dependent upon qualifications.

The ability to work cooperatively and collegially within a diverse environment is paramount. Prior to the start of employment, qualified applicants must: 1) have a medical doctorate or equivalent, 2) hold or be eligible for medical licensure in the State of Illinois, 3) board certified or eligible in General Surgery or Urology or hold the equivalent certification for a foreign-trained physician, and 4) be fully trained in an American Society of Transplant Surgery (ASTS) approved fellowship and able to meet UNOS criteria for a kidney transplant surgeon.
