POLICY ASSOCIATE, Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab (J-PAL), to support the policy group in several ways, including creating policy publications and conducting policy analysis and policy outreach activities to translate economic evidence into policy. Will gain specialized knowledge in one or more of J-PAL’s sector programs and act as a liaison to regional offices; work closely with senior policy associates and policy managers to create publications that “translate” J-PAL’s economic research into policy lessons for dissemination to policymakers around the world; provide research and writing assistance on policy memos, funding proposals, and comparative cost-effectiveness studies; and develop regional expertise by supporting one of J-PAL’s regional offices.  The position also offers an opportunity to attend conferences, participate in meetings with policymakers and partner organizations, and develop public speaking skills by presenting at various regional offices and policy events.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED: a bachelor’s degree that includes significant training in economics; intermediate-level economics, econometrics, and calculus knowledge; two years of relevant experience (experience gained during education can count toward experience); attention to detail; and strong writing skills for communicating policy lessons from academic papers in ways that policymakers understand.

PREFERRED: master’s degree; and knowledge of Spanish, French, or other major language(s). Job #18899
