Job Description Summary

This position will be a resource for best practices of managing major clinical trials. The coordinator will provide guidance to both study trials and device trials. The incumbent will be a liaison to departmental interaction such as the investigational team, the nursing units and sponsor.  He/She will be a resource to other members of the team and will oversee the implementation of new clinical trials. Will review all new trials to help identify the challenges and opportunities discovered. Will problem-solve the challenges to implement a plan of action; will work with the regulatory manager to ensure that submissions to the IRB are completed in a timely manner. Will supervise the execution of the trial with the staff to ensure adherence to the protocol is followed and will audit the trials for compliance and enrollment which include a review of the data entry for accuracy and completeness and adverse event management. The coordinator will take an active role in preparation of trial audits and inspection. The coordinator will take a lead role supervising any inspection that takes place with the trials. S/he will provide monthly updates to the research team and the director.

Job Description

This CRC-C position will conduct assessments and help coordinate multiple NIH and Industry sponsored studies at the HIV Prevention Research Division at the Penn School of Medicine.  Primary duties will include: (1) participant recruitment; (2) participant retention; (3) study monitoring and oversight; (4) protocol implementation including specimen collection; (5) administration of behavioral and safety assessments; (6) data management and analysis; (7) manuscript preparation and (8) research staff supervision.

Specific Duties Include:

  1. Training and supervision of newly-hired Research Assistant staff
  2. Perform consent, reconsent, study screening visits; maintain compliant documentation of same
  3. Participant recruitment
  4. Participant retention
  5. Protocol implementation, Study Visit conduct including biometric measurements, phlebotomy, urine collection, behavioral and safety assessments; maintain compliant source documentation of same
  6. Data entry, query resolution, data cleaning and corrections
  7. Manage and conduct e-diary reporting, follow up calls to assess reactogenicity, participant phone calls
  8. Assist regulatory coordinator with regulatory submissions as needed
  9. Perform additional duties as assigned

Position is contingent upon funding


  • Bachelor's Degree and 4-6 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience required. Master's Degree preferred.
